Thank you for all the love and support especially from my teammates and coaches, but it’s time to move on to the next chapter of my life. GBR forever pic.twitter.com/9LL59Cp9QP

Darien Chase, a red shirt freshman from Vancouver Washington has decided to enter the transfer portal.
Chase was a 4 star recruit in the 2019 recruiting class and was in line to get significantly more playing time as a red shirt sophomore. With his departure Jamie Nance and De’Mariyon Houston need to come along fast as half the WR room will now be freshman and a juco.
This comes as a pretty big surprise, I expectedhim to be competing for major playing time this year behind JD, Wandale, and Omar Manning. This is no doubt a hit to Nebraska's receiving corps, leaving them with just ten scholarship WRs. He cites his mental health and being closer to family as his reasons for moving on.
It will be interesting to see where he ends up and if the Huskers are looking to add another body at WR through the transfer portal themselves. Someone to keep your eye on is former North Texas WR Rico Bussey.
We wish Darien and his family nothing but the best in the future.
