Scouting Report for the Wisconsin Badgers

Wisconsin is 7-5, but has not fared too well against Big Ten opponents as they’re 0-2 facing conference foes. The Badgers lost to Purdue (89-50) on December 30th and got handed a loss by the Hawkeyes (87-65) on December 10th.

Wisconsin is led by sophomore Serah Williams, who averages a team high 16.1 points per game and locks in at second in the Big Ten with 9.0 rebounds. Williams missed Wisconsin’s last two games due to illness, but is hopeful to return to the lineup on Thursday.

Ronnie Porter makes up another part of this young Badger team. She is averaging 10.2 points per game and posts a team best in assists (4.1) and steals (2.8). Porter also leads the team in shot attempts (126), but is only shooting 35.7 percent, including 26.2 percent from three.

Sania Copeland is another sophomore who averages just under double digits (9.3). She falls in second among the Badgers in assists (2.5) and steals (1.9)

Wisconsin, as a whole, is averaging 66.5 points per game, that’s the lowest in the Big Ten, while holding their opponents to 65.6 points per game. The Badgers have a -2.6 rebound margin, tied last in the Big Ten with Northwestern. Ranking 12th within the conference, Wisconsin also as a -0.3 turnover margin. The Badgers are also hitting a league low 41.9 percent of their field goal attempts, including 32.5 from deep. They average 6.6 threes per game.

Nebraska Report

Nebraska is looking to start 3-0 in conference play since the 2011-2012 season, which is when Nebraska joined the Big Ten. The Huskers are averaging 79.2 points per game and are holding their opponents to just 60.7 points per game. Nebraska is shooting 45.2 percent from the field, including 33.0 percent from deep. As a team, the Huskers average 43.5 rebounds per game (+12) and 17.5 assists per game. Nebraska also commits an average of 14.0 turnovers per game.

Maddie Krull needs just one point to hit 700 in her career.

Jaz Shelley will have 250 career three pointers on her next made three.

Alexis Markowski’s next double double will make her just the fifth Husker in history to record 30 career double doubles. She’d be joining Husker greats Jordan Hooper (40), Kelsey Griffin (40), Karen Jennings (36), and Emily Cady (33).

Jaz Shelley is 19 rebounds from 500 in her career.

Darian White is 20 rebounds from 700 in her career.

Alexis Markowski is 35 rebounds from 750, which would put her into a tie for number 10 on the Nebraska career rebound list.
