Nebraska picks up Syracuse transfer LB Stefon Thompson

An addition to a much-needed position.

Nebraska football picked up YET ANOTHER PLAYER as Stefon Thompson, a linebacker at Syracuse, announced his intent to transfer to our beloved Huskers today.

His freshman year (first year in 2020, the Covid year) he played in 10 games, having 35 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss, and 3 sacks.

Thompson started all 12 games at linebacker for Syracuse in 2021. He was second on the team with 79 tackles, 6 sacks and 8 tackles for loss.

He suffered a season-ending injury in the first game of 2022, but played in every game in 2023. He had 52 tackles total, 4 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, and a forced fumble.

All totaled, he’s played in 36 games with 21 starts, had 169 tackles, 20 tackles for loss, 10.5 sacks, and four forced fumbles.

What he has is experience!

Nebraska picks up some depth at linebacker which will help as Nick Heinrich and Luke Reimer have department.

Thompson has two seasons of eligibility remaining.
