It was a triple double for Jaz Shelley and a double double for Alexis Markowski in the dominant win at home

Syndication: The Indianapolis Star Alex Martin/IndyStar / USA TODAY NETWORK

This is the final game of a home stand for Nebraska. Anni Stewart is still out for Nebraska.

First Quarter

The Huskers jumped out to a 10-0 lead early behind two three pointers behind Darian White and Jaz Shelley. The Seahawks finally got on the board and then Nebraska went on another double digit scoring run (24-2 Neb) at 3:08. Jaz Shelley is filling up the stat sheet with points, rebounds, and assists. Shelley, White and Logan Nissley all have hit from long range.

The lead reached 24 (26-2 Neb) before UNCW found the basket for the second time, but the Huskers continued their torrid long shooting with a three from Hake (29-4 Neb). One more basket for each team brought the first quarter to a close.

Jaz Shelley has eight points, five rebounds and seven assists so far. She even sat for three minutes of the quarter. Triple double watch?!?

Second Quarter

Natalie Potts opened scoring for the quarter, followed by a foul on White that led to one made free throw for the Seahawks (33-8 Neb). Alexis Markowski is already at five points and five rebounds - right on her usual double-double pace.

UNCW reached double digit scoring at 6:38 but they were not even close to keeping pace with Nebraska. Six Huskers, including the two post players (Potts and Markowski) have hit a three point shot (42-10 Neb).

I went to get a glass of water and came back to a 50-10 score. No Husker is in double digits yet, but Potts and Nissley have nine; Shelley and Markowski each have eight. Media timeout.

Nissley becomes the first Husker scoring in double digits with a three (53-10 Neb) - this was also Shelley’s 10th assist.

Oh look, Jess Petrie is up to nine points (56-10 Neb). Kendall Coley hits a basket - there are only two Huskers that have not scored points. She added a free throw (59-12 Neb). Logan Nissley is just getting greedy now and hits a three right before the half.

Nebraska has matched the most points ever scored in a half for women’s basketball.

Third Quarter

The Seahawks got on the board first but were answered in quick order by Jaz Shelley and then Darian White (67-14 Neb). Shelley has a double-double with 11 points and 10 assists (and eight rebounds).

Potts joins NIssley and Shelley in double digit scoring with 11. She is also in double-double watch with eight rebounds (70-14 Neb). The Huskers forced a 10 second call on the Seahawks. I’m not sure why they are full court pressing - except maybe to practice it?

At the media timeout, the score was 76-14 in favor of the home team. Jaz Shelley is one rebound away from the triple double.

Fourth Quarter

Markowski has her double-double (14 points, 10 rebounds). Maddie Krull is the only Husker without points tonight. Jaz Shelley is one rebound away from the triple double.

Three minutes in, the score sits at 92-27 Nebraska.

Maddie Krull is on the board! All Huskers have scored points tonight! (95-30 Neb).

I can’t type fast enough to keep up with the stats.

Shelley has a TRIPLE DOUBLE!! The Huskers lead 101-30.

Callin Hake has scored in double digits (104-30 Neb).

Jess Petrie has scored in double digits (106-30 Neb).

The Huskers aren’t really even pretending to play defense anymore. Amy Wililams doesn’t want anyone hurt.

Final. Nebraska 108 UNCW 36

Stats and Thoughts

This is the largest margin of victory for Husker women’s basketball, ever.

Seven of the 10 available Huskers scored double digit points: Shelley (19), Markowski and Nissley (18), Petrie, White and Potts (11), and Hake (10).

Jaz Shelley headlined the night with her second triple-double as a Husker (10 rebounds, 11 assists). Alexis Markowski brought her usual magic with a double-double (12 rebounds).

Nebraska shot nearly 60% from the field. They outrebounded the Seahawks 57-25.

This was utter domination and a feel-good win as Nebraska gets ready to head into Big Ten play.

Next Game

The Huskers play a matinee on Saturday in East Lansing. They visit Michigan State for a 1 pm tipoff.
