Per Sam McKewon at the Omaha World Herald, Chubba Purdy is transferring from Nebraska.
Just before you read this, you might have thought the quarterback room at Nebraska was in decent shape. BUT NO, now our beloved Huskers are down to three scholarship quarterbacks - Heinrich Haarberg, and incoming true freshmen Dylan Raiola and Danny Kaelin.
Chubba Purdy came to Nebraska after playing two years at Florida State, where he played in four games, starting one.
At Nebraska, Purdy plays in six games, starting the last two games of the year. He completed 31-of-57 passes for 382 yards and two touchdowns. He rushed for 180 yards on 29 carries while scoring one touchdown.
I don’t think Purdy was going to be a starting quarterback regardless of his experience. You have a 5-star quarterback coming in, regarded by some as a generational talent, and the best quarterback in the nation at his class.
I doubt Dylan Raiola sits for long, and no doubt, Purdy saw that and perhaps wishes to take his chances elsewhere. I can’t fault him for that.
I wish him the best of luck.
Take care of yourself, Mr. Purdy, and thanks for being a Husker.
