Lost in all the hype of Dylan Raiola, Kyle McCord, Daniel Kaelin (...and maybe Casey Thompson?), Nebraska secured another offensive line commitment yesterday and not thru the normal channels for a recruit of this caliber.
Xander Ruggeroli of national high school football powerhouse Bishop Gorman in Las Vegas, Nevada, has committed to the Huskers as a preferred walk-on. What makes this unusual is he is a nationally pursued recruit with scholarship offers from seven other schools including Washington State, Arizona State and Boston College. It’s probably safe to assume the Huskers got very creative with an NIL deal which is worth enough to cover both the cost of a full scholarship and cash deal deal on a par for a recruit of his ranking.
Ruggeroli is a 6’8” 285lb offensive tackle who has a consensus 3-star ranking from the four major recruiting services and is the #7 ranked player in Nevada. His highest ranking came from ESPN who pegged him with a 4-star rating, the #36 ranked tackle in the nation and #3 in Nevada.
His high school O-line coach is friends with Huskers coach Donovan Raiola and he visited the campus back on October 29th. He plans to graduate in the spring and enroll in June.
