Nebraska Kicks Oregon State In The Face With A 84-63 Win

NCAA Basketball: Illinois at Nebraska Steven Branscombe-USA TODAY Sports

A beautiful fall afternoon in Sioux Falls set the stage for a big Husker victory over Oregon State in non conference play, a game that probably had the visiting Beavers regretting taking the trip half way across the country.

Oregon State started out the game strong enough. Scoring the first points and keeping the Huskers at bay for a few minutes, the Beavers led for the first six minutes or so in the game.

This would be the last time they had any chance in this game.

Nebraska started clicking and more importantly started making their shots and never looked back. The Huskers dominated the Beavers the rest of the game. The offense of Nebraska got going and could not be stopped. It was balanced out by a stifling defense that kept OSU out of the game.

This was a game for the Huskers to lose and they did not come close to letting it happen.

The Huskers were led by Brice Williams who had twenty three points for the afternoon followed it up with three rebounds and two assists for the Big Red.

Rienk Mast had a dominating game in the paint, putting up fifteen points against Oregon while pulling down double digit rebounds with thirteen.

Coming off the bench and sparking the Huskers scoring run in the first half was Juwan Gary. The Junior who was playing in his second game of the season had twelve points, ten rebounds and two assists.

The Beavers were lead by Jordan Pope who did quite well against the Huskers and had twenty four points, three rebounds, and three assists on the day.

The Huskers come back to Lincoln to take on Duquesne on Wednesday at 7:00pm.
