Welcome back to another fun filled edition of “Big Ten Rankings”. These rankings are 100% subjective and hold no bearing over anything. No analytics were used and to be honest, I didn’t even see most of the games. Basically, this is a regionalized coaches poll.
Enjoy week three!
1. Ohio State - Last Week #1
The Buckeyes lost to Oregon, but I still think they are still the best team in the conference. Mario has something built at Oregon that just walked into Columbus and punched OSU in the mouth. Oregon is good.
With that said, they’re still better than everyone else in the conference so far. I’d happily eat crow if I am wrong.
2. Iowa - Last Week #3
Iowa gets a bump up after a very nice win over in state rival ISU. Do I think they will stay here? Not exactly, but the Hawkeyes have earned this spot so far. Enjoy it while you can.
3. Penn State - Last Week #2
They’re not pretty, but still one of the most talented teams in the conference. I would expect improvement as the year moves along. Enjoy this season with coach Franklin as he might head west after this season.
4. Wisconsin - Last week, I don’t remember
Still good, they’re Wisconsin.
5. Michigan - Yep, done doing the “last week ranked thing”
Another B1G team that still has a ways to go to impress anyone. Still better than what’s below them for now.
6. Indiana
Nice rebound against....Idaho
7. Minnesota
You barely beat Miami (the Ohio version). You get to drop.
8. Michigan State
I’m pushing northern MSU up this week and I think they might be able to go higher.
9. Maryland
Still not sure about this team.
10. Rutgers
* See Maryland
11. Northwestern
Nice FCS win. Now it’s time to play in the smart kids bowl against Duke this weekend.
12. Purdue
Purdue beat what is probably the worst team in the FBS with a win over UCONN. You stay for now.
13. Nebraska
Hey, they’re 2-1. One of two reasons why they get bumped up.
14. Illinois
At least Nebraska is starting to win some games. I can’t say that about Illinois. The loss to UTSA is the second reason why Nebraska jumped them in this week’s rankings.
