Well, Fred Hoiberg and his recruiting squad wasted no time filling their roster before the upcoming season. If there’s an opening, then they will quickly fill it. The Huskers only had one week this time before the roster for the 2021-22 season was back to being complete.
Huskers pick up guard Alonzo Verge from the transfer portal on Thursday. Alonzo comes to Nebraska from Arizona State where he averaged 14 points, 3.8 assists, and 3.9 rebounds per game for the Sun Devils this past season. During the season he started in 21 games. The Chicago Native was originally at Moberly Area Community College before transferring to ASU.
Alonzo originally entered the NBA draft pool twice. Once in 2020 where he pulled back out and went back to Arizona State. This last time in 2021 he again pulled out and has thus decided to attend Nebraska.
One assumes that he is the replacement piece for the departure of Dalano Banton who is going to bypass his last year of eligibility at Nebraska and pursue a career in the NBA.
