Nebraska took a chance on Ronald Thompkins out of high school because of two serious knee injuries. He likely would have been one of the top running backs in the country if he was healthy.
Today Ronald Thompkins II announced on twitter that he will be retiring from football.

Thompkins was probably the most talented player in the running back room but he could not stay healthy.
In 2020, Thompkins had five carries for twenty-four yards and one catch for 10 yards.
Whatever Thompkins chooses to do from here we definitely wish him luck!
Jaquez Yant, Rhamir Johnson, Marvin Scott III, Gabe Ervin Jr., Sevion Morrison and Markese Stepp are the remaining scholarship running backs on the roster. Stepp has been dealing with his own health issues since the beginning of spring football.
Ryan Held, the running backs coach, has the work cut out for him. You would hope that one of those listed can become the guy.
