The game will mark the first time the two teams have ever faced off against each other. The Auburn Tigers went 13-14 last season, and 7-11 in conference action. However, the season was a big drop off as compared to the previous two. Heading into the 2021-2022 season, Auburn is looking to have a bounce-back season as they are ranked No. 10 in CBS Sports’ Rothstein Top-45.
In the 2019-2020 season, Auburn was a lock for the NCAA Tournament prior to its cancellation after going 25-6 overall, and 12-6 in conference play while tying with LSU for second in the league. The 2018-2019 season was even more of a successful run as Auburn advanced all the way to the Final Four before being cheated out of the championship game by a god awful missed call against Virginia in the waning seconds that lets the Cavs march on and win the national title that year.
