BOOM!!!! 2023 Lineman Gunnar Gottula is N!!!!!

The second commitment for the 2023 class, and a Nebraska native!

After getting an offer from the good guys at the beginning of June, the offensive tackle from Lincoln Southeast, Gunnar Gottula, committed to the hometown Nebraska Cornhuskers today. His teammate, 2022 linebacker Jake Appleget, committed Monday. Gottula is the second member of the 2023 class to commit to the Huskers, joining in-state receiver Benjamin Brahmer from Pierce, Nebraska.

Gottula is currently unrated by both 247 and Rivals, but he has a good height at 6-foot-6. Another tall guy with a solid frame! But he’ll need to put on more weight as he is only at 250-pounds. I watched the first half of the spring game again this morning after the NCAA blue-balled my sports fix by booting NC State out of the tournament. I am really liking how the line has started to take shape. Hopefully they can start dominating other teams this season.

Gottula got noticed by the staff at a workout at the beginning of June, which is when he got the offer and has had a few visits to the campus. Despite not getting any rankings from recruiting services he also got offers from Iowa, Iowa State, and Kansas State. A small but solid offer list for someone who will only be a junior this coming fall. If he managed to get the interest of Ferentz, who has developed a handful of good offensive linemen, than he must have potential. I’m glad he decided to stay in Lincoln to learn and develop under coach Austin.

Welcome to your Hometown Huskers, Gunnar Gottula!
