Chance Hroch named Big Ten Pitcher of the Week

Hroch’s career day gives the Huskers back to back Pitchers of the Week

Jon Johnston

Of all the impressive performances on the diamond this past weekend in the Indiana pod, none was better than that of Chance Hroch having not only his best day as a Husker, but his best day as a collegian. Making it even more impressive was the stage that he did it on. That is what differentiated him from another pitcher that had a similar stat line on the very same field, versus the very same team a night later.

Hroch pitched his first career complete game in the 3-1 win, striking out 10 Hoosiers, while only giving up one walk and three hits. He lost his bid at a shutout on a home run by what could have potentially been his final batter with two outs in the ninth. All while putting his team in a place to take the conference crown a day later.

This is Hroch’s first Big Ten award, coming a week after his teammate Cade Povich took home the same honor. Well deserved Mr. Mustache!!
