Of all the impressive performances on the diamond this past weekend in the Indiana pod, none was better than that of Chance Hroch having not only his best day as a Husker, but his best day as a collegian. Making it even more impressive was the stage that he did it on. That is what differentiated him from another pitcher that had a similar stat line on the very same field, versus the very same team a night later.
Hroch pitched his first career complete game in the 3-1 win, striking out 10 Hoosiers, while only giving up one walk and three hits. He lost his bid at a shutout on a home run by what could have potentially been his final batter with two outs in the ninth. All while putting his team in a place to take the conference crown a day later.
