Fred Hoiberg has hired Shannon Lum in the newly created role of recruiting coordinator for the men’s basketball team. Shannon is the second woman to hold this role on a men’s basketball team in a power conference. She most recently held the director of video position for the California women’s basketball program.

From the Athletic Department:

Lum will serve as Recruiting Coordinator, a newly-created position on Nebraska’s basketball staff. In that role, she will help the Husker coaching staff in advanced scouting, including opponent and team self-scouting, as well as game preparation. She will also oversee the recruiting landscape for the Huskers with a focus on the NCAA transfer portal, including implementing and managing NU’s recruiting database and assist with recruiting research.

Assistant basketball coach Abdelmassih will still be the main recruiter for the Big Red but will now have more help with Lum at his disposal.

Lum graduated from St. John’s University in 2018 where she earned a degree in sports management. While she was there Shannon was head manager of the men’s basketball program.
