National Voting Results

March Madness has made a triumphant, though controversial and unequal return to crown Stanford and [Redacted] as national champs.

Both champs had outstanding talent on their rosters that helped clinch the title. No surprise as a result the MVP was on the title team in both tournaments.

On the women’s side, Stanford’s Haley Jones was the overwhelming favorite and managed a narrow majority of the overall vote.

  1. Haley Jones 51%
  2. Aari McDonald 27%
  3. Paige Bueckers 15%
  4. Christyn Williams 2%

On the men’s side, it was another player on the championship team. Baylor’s Jared Butler got the vote for men’s Final Four MVP also by an overwhelming margin and a narrow majority.

  1. Butler 52%
  2. Juzang 20%
  3. Suggs 14%
  4. Teague 7%
  5. Timme 6%

Despite an advanced performance in the analytics and a perfect season until the title game by Gonzaga, Baylor put together an impressive season of their own free even from intra-team felonies. Was it enough to make fans think they are an “all-time great” team, though? Apparently not.

What about next season? Fans gave the edge to runner-up Gonzaga in this one, but narrowly. The UCLA Bruins are a distant but still solid third in the poll.

  1. Gonzaga 33%
  2. Baylor 31%
  3. UCLA 17%
  4. Michigan 10%
  5. Purdue 4%
  6. Duke 3%
  7. Kansas 2%
