Ernest Hausmann has become the first known commitment to the Nebraska football team in the 2022 class. The 6’3” linebacker out of Columbus is the fifth highest rated player in Nebraska according to 24/7 sports. He choose the Huskers over offers from Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, and Arizona State.

The senior to be from Columbus has seen his recruitment explode this past year. He moved from being a wide receiver and cornerback to playing edge linebacker. He put on at least 15 pounds of muscle and it shows in his film this year.
Hausmann looks like an intriguing prospect for Husker fans. His game tape shows the ability to get after the passer and be an effective edge rusher. However his build also allows him to fall back into coverage and play the pass. With just learning the new position of linebacker for a couple of years, Hausmann will have a high ceiling potential when he gets to Lincoln.
It helped the Huskers here that the recruiting dead period was extended at least until the end of May. Hausmann would have liked to go out and visit a few of the schools who have offered him, but he choose to stick with the hometown Huskers.
