Sam Hoiberg, son of one Fred Hoiberg, who happens to be the head basketball coach of Nebraska, announced he’ll be joining the Husker squad as a walk-on.
Not to confuse anyone but this is Fred’s younger son, not his older one. The older one is Jack who is currently transferring from Michigan State. Jack has yet to announce where he is going.
Excited to announce I’ll be continuing my education and basketball career at the University of Nebraska. Thanks to everyone who has helped get me to this point. Can’t wait live my dream of playing for my dad. #GBR pic.twitter.com/X3JPHNTyqi

Sam Hoiberg was a point guard at Lincoln Pius X, where he helped the Thunderbolts to a 18-4 record this past season. The Thunderbolts lost to MIllard West in the first round of the Class A state tournament. He averaged 14.9 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 3.8 assists during his senior year.
To try and make this even more confusing, Sam has a twin brother Charlie who also played for Pius. Charlie has yet to announce if he will play for anyone this upcoming season.
Next season Nebraska will have a pair of McGowens and a pair of Hoibergs on the sidelines. No word yet on whether they’ll put on a tag-team wrestling match.
Welcome to Nebraska Sam Hoiberg!
