Big Red Cobcast Ep. 348: Are You With Us or Against Us?

We all know the legend. We’re the greatest fans in college football.

That’s wonderful, but are we? We are (allegedly) nice. We (allegedly) treat opposing fans and players with respect.

That’s wonderful, and I (allegedly) support all that. I truly, non-allegedly do. But at a certain point, it’s hard to call ourselves great fans if we don’t support our team, first and foremost.

To quote Jose Mourinho in that Tottenham Hotspur Amazon documentary, we need to “be bastards.”

(Okay, maybe that’s not a specific Jose Mourinho motto, but I do highly encourage watching that documentary. Mourinho is so, so, so weird.)

To put it another way: Maybe it’s time we say “screw the outside world; it’s just us.”

It’s easy to dismiss that mantra when it was so grossly misused by a former Nebraska coach, but let’s do it. Let’s all unite in anger and beat the bloody piss out of our opponents next year.
