Tuesday morning, Omaha television station KETV’s microphones caught University of Nebraska President Ted Carter mentioning that a Big Ten announcement on Husker football is forthcoming in hours.

“We’re getting ready to announce the Huskers and Big Ten football tonight”, said Carter in a conversation with Bob Hinson, director of the National Strategic Research Institute.

Meanwhile, Ohio State seems to be waiting in nervous expectation of some sort of news.

And up in Minneapolis, the Gophers are wondering when the last time they started a season so late.

Yousef Nasser of Lincoln television station KLKN caught up with Carter afterwards, with Carter saying he was caught “out of context” this morning.

University of Nebraska-Lincoln chief communication and marketing officer Deb Fiddelke later issued this statement: “When there is any news to share or confirm regarding any Big Ten board decision, it will be announced by the Big Ten. Chancellor Green and AD Moos will comment at that time.”
