Multiple Sources Point To No Football In The Fall

The big decision should be made in the upcoming days

Multiple sources such as ESPN, The Athletic, & Sports Illustrated are reporting that the Power 5 conferences held a meeting on Sunday to discuss the upcoming football season. Those sources indicated that the powers that be are now leaning to no fall sports this year due to complications that have arisen due to COVID-19.

Many leaders in the Big Ten Conference are supposedly pushing to halt fall sports and hold them in the spring of 2021. They are currently seeing if the other Power 5 conferences will fall in line with them if they go forward with this plan.

So far the Mid Athletic Conference in FBS, The Big Sky & The Pioneer League of FCS, & all of Division III has called off fall football until spring. These groups very well could have been the start of what is becoming the cancellation of the 2020 season.

The big question right now is if this really is the right move. While we all need to be concered and cautious of COVID-19, is cancelling fall sports the right thing to do. Some of the players, including Clemson Quarterback Trevor Lawrence think otherwise.

He brings up a good point. Are athletes better off in the care of the universities and athletic departments than they are on their own or with their communities? Which, may or may not be following COVID-19 guidelines. The very ones we are trying to use to keep them.

Right now you can go on twitter and see a multitude of athletes, reporters, & others with a computer waxing poetically about what they think should happen this fall. Feel free to read though and come up with your own thoughts on what should happen.

One would think that we would have had this figured out over the past few months. Then again, maybe we don’t understand this virus enough to move forward with anything. It a tough call to make. Maybe that’s why the powers that be get paid millions and I’m sitting in my basement writing for a website during my free time and trying to figure out what I will be doing on Saturdays this fall.

Anyone want to start a Halo league?
