The Huskers added the commitment of Creighton Prep tight end A.J. Rollins Friday evening. Rollins is 6'6 and 230 pounds & also plays basketball for the Junior Jays. On the gridiron, he plays tight end, splits out wide & even plays a little defensive end.
AJ's film displays everything you'd want to see from a tight end. He plays in-line a lot. He is a great route runner. He's got dependable hands. He can block. He can box out defenders, go up and make touchdown grabs in the red zone. I walked away very impressed with his skill set.
AJ had Division 1 offers from Nebraska, Iowa State, Missouri, Liberty & UCF. He visited Iowa State a couple times & it sounds like there may have been interest there as his cousin is Cyclones RB Breece Hall, a Wichita, Kansas native that Nebraska recruited for the 2019 class. However, AJ was unable to take any official visits due to the COVID-19 pandemic, so he committed to the team that offered him first & showed him the most love.
With the commitment of Rollins, the Huskers 2021 recruiting class is currently ranked 18th in the country by Rivals & 24th in the USA, 6th in the Big Ten and #1 in the Big Ten West according to 247. A great bump for being ranked #39 a little over a week ago.
Welcome to Nebraska, AJ!!!! GBR!
