Nebraska added the commitment of 4* athlete Kamonte Grimes Sunday evening. The 6'2 205 lb Grimes hails from Naples, Florida and plays football for local Palmetto Ridge High School. He is a utility player, taking snaps at QB, RB, safety & wide receiver, the position that the Huskers & offensive coordinator Matt Lubick recruited him for.
Watching his film, he makes the game of football look easy! He is so smooth at all positions, making defenders look helpless & scoring touchdowns all over the field. He is a threat to score 6 points whenever he has the football in his hands. He is one of my favorite players in the state of Florida this cycle, all he does is make huge plays! He reminds me of former Twin Cities boat rower and current Tampa Bay Buccaneer Tyler Johnson on film. His route running needs work, but with Admiral Lubick on staff he should become extremely productive for Dear Old Nebraska U.
Kamonte also reminds me of fellow Husker commit Latrell Neville for one reason. Grimes was rated as high as a .9619 4 star according to 247 Composite but is now only a .8732 3 star. I have a feeling it might be because of the lack of top tier production. Grimes had 28 receptions and 578 yards receiving his junior year & had 223 yards receiving, 130 yards rushing & 240 yards passing his sophomore season. Film doesn't lie though, Kamonte is a stud that I have no doubt will become an integral part of the Husker offense during his tenure.
With Kamonte's commitment, the Huskers 2021 recruiting class currently sits at 39th in the country & 9th in the Big Ten according to 247, while Rivals has the Good Guys also ranked 39th in the country.
Welcome to Nebraska, Kamonte! GBR!
