Nebraska Football 2020: Notable Freshmen That Could Make An Impact

We are loaded with freshmen talent in the class of 2020. Who will make an impact?

NCAA Football: Northwestern at Nebraska Bruce Thorson-USA TODAY Sports

Finally we are starting to get some of Scott Frost’s recruits in our system. According to 247sports, the Nebraska Cornhuskers are ranked fourth in B1G recruiting. We are only behind the powerhouses Ohio State Buckeyes and Penn State Nittany Lions, and the also ran Michigan Wolverines. We currently have three 4-stars who are already enrolled, and five 4-stars who signed their National Letter of Intent.

Some noteworthy recruits in the 2020 class

Turner Corcoran: Turner is a 6-foot-6, 280 pound homegrown midwest Offensive Tackle from Kansas. He is the number one ranked Lineman in the state, and the fourth ranked tackle in the nation. 247sports recruiter Steve Wiltfong speaks highly of Turner. “Good foot quickness, moves well laterally, flexible, and tough” says Steve. Clearly Turner has an enormous ceiling of potential. He is a blue collar type guy and the type of lineman we need.

Jaiden Francois: Francois is a powerful 6 foot safety from Florida. As a junior in High School, he recorded 79 tackles, and he was a first team all region selection in Miami. Francois runs a 4.64 forty. He played both ways in high school and is extremely versatile with a ball in his hands. He will most likely stick to defense for the Huskers, but we are excited to see how early of an impact he will make! Also, he de-committed from the Miami-Florida Hurricanes and moved to Husker Nation, so thank you Miami!

Zavier Betts: The Huskers have a ton of talented receivers coming in, and Zavier Betts leads the way. He is a hometown kid from Bellevue West High. He’s 6-foot-2 and 190 pounds, while running a 4.5 in the forty. Zavier is an athletic freak and we will most certainly witness his Husker highlight reel in the future.

Omar Manning: Another talented receiver in this class is 6-foot-4, 225 pound man-child Omar Manning. He’s from Texas and we all know, Texas breeds football superstars. He is a JUCO transfer from Kilgore where he averaged 20.8 yards per catch in his most recent season. He is a polished wide receiver and will for sure see the field a whole lot next year.

Other notable names to keep on your radar:

Alante Brown, WR, 6-foot-0, 190 lbs

Logan Smothers, QB, 6-foot-2, 190 lbs (who you should already know)

Marcus Fleming, WR, 5-foot-10, 160 lbs

Keyshawn Greene, OLB, 6-foot-3, 195 lbs

The more and more I research about this upcoming 2020 season the more excited I get to embrace the Sea of Red and yell “GOOOO BIGGGG REDDDDD” at the top of my lungs. Am I the only one who misses “HUSKER...POWER??”

I miss football. I need football. And I hope this season comes around sooner than later.

(Hopefully Covid catches a break so we can keep the sellout streak alive).
