Nebraska Football Ultimate Rush End Bracket: The Championship

It is Alberts vs Wistrom for the title of ultimate Husker rush end

It’s the championship!

Trev Alberts vs Grant Wistrom. I left the highlight videos at the bottom in case you didn’t get a chance to look at them last time.

The Big Red Cobcast recently interviewed Trev Alberts, check it out!

Even after that great interview with Trev, I’m pretty sure I know who Tweedy will be voting for...

Me? I think both are pretty amazing players. I’m not sure yet who I’ll be casting my ballot for.

As a reminder:

Brew’s criteria for inclusion in this bracket:

This should be fun. OK, so what’s a Rush End? It can be a traditional DE or OLB, but not every DE or OLB qualifies. I had to kinda feel it out and go by my gut. They line up outside of the tackle and are responsible for creating chaos in the backfield. If you don’t see your favorite sackmaster, he’ll probably be included in either the LB bracket or the DL bracket.

Here’s the super duper secret decoder ring:

  • Consensus Unanimous All American (cuAA)
  • Consensus All American (cAA)
  • All American (AA)
  • All Conference (AC) – Must be 1st team.

1) Trev Alberts – cuAA, 2X AC. Nebraska’s only Butkus winner, most sacks all time (29.5), 3 sacks in ’94 Orange Bowl ( bio)

2) Grant Wistrom – 2X cAA, 3X AC. Most TFL all time (58.5), Lombardi Award winner ( bio)

This video includes some highlights of Trev Alberts, a few of Grant Wistrom and then quite a few that include other players that were part of this bracket. Enjoy!

Trev Alberts

This will be a trend in almost all of the videos, but I couldn’t find much that featured just Trev Alberts. Here are some game highlights that include Trev.

Grant Wistrom

Here is his College Football Hall of Fame induction video
