My husband is a minimalist.
He would prefer to have one pot and one pan and one type of silverware per person.
He would also like to live in a tiny house.
The problem is, he married me. I’m just not buying into the minimalist lifestyle and he’s had to adjust. The children are not on his side either.
I tell you this, because this week Nate McHugh was not impressed with his wife’s awesome purchase of an ice cream maker. It is awesome because ice cream is awesome.
His response reminded me of the kitchen gadget or small appliances that I have purchased that my husband has been less than thrilled with. He has been wrong about all of them.
Seven years ago I bought a quesadilla maker. He thought I was ridiculous and that I’d never use it. That thing is awesome. I make quesadillas regularly. Sure, they could be made in a pan, but they wouldn’t be the same. They are crisp, and have dividing lines, and perfectly melted cheese. Great purchase.
He also didn’t think that an instant pot or an air fryer were necessary. I also use those all the time. Do you want quick and delicious corn on the cob? The instant pot is where it’s at. A delicious chicken breast? Let’s air fry that.
Recently, I purchased a microwave popcorn bowl that air pops your popcorn. I was excited about this because I love to make popcorn on the stove, but it tends to scratch the burners, so I needed another option. I love it and so do my boys.
The moral of this story is if your significant other wants kitchen gadget, they are right and you are wrong.
Now onto the flakes.
