The Nebraska Cornhuskers received the commitment of 3* California athlete Will Schweitzer Thursday afternoon. The 6-foot-4, 220 pound Schweitzer hails from Los Gatos, smack dab in the middle of Silicon Valley in the southern part of the bay area. According to Bloomberg Businessweek, Los Gatos is ranked the 33rd wealthiest city in the United States.
However, Will doesn't play like a rich kid at all when he roams the field for Los Gatos High. Watching his film, he is so explosive I couldn't tell if he played in Silicon Valley or Miami Gardens! The laser timed 4.25 shuttle lends credence to that explosion. On tape he is playing edge rusher, off-ball LB and tight end, and honestly he could be a Power 5 starter at all 3 positions because he is making splash plays everywhere. However, he was recruited to be an outside linebacker in Erik Chinander's 3-4 defense. On defense in 2019, he recorded 130 tackles, 9 tackles for loss, 2 sacks, and 3 interceptions.
247 has him ranked as a 88 overall 3*, the 32nd best outside linebacker in the country, and the 41st best player in California; while Rivals has Will as a 5.7 3* and the 26th best edge rusher in the country, but still only the 41st best player in the Golden State. He chose Nebraska while being courted heavily by the California Golden Bears, Utah Utes, TCU Horned Frogs, and Virginia Cavaliers amidst many other offers.
Welcome to Nebraska, Will! GBR!
