Corny Awards: Football Winners

The votes have been cast, the ballots have been tallied, and now we have the winners of the first annual 2020 Corny Awards!

You’ve already seen the results for volleyball/wrestling, and for Nebrasketball (both men’s and women’s). Today we have the results for football.

As a reminder, the overall categories that were voted on were as follows:

Best Husker Football Player

The Winner is:

First place goes to Wan’Dale Robinson who earned 42.9% of the vote!

Second is JD Spielman at 28.8%
Third is Adrian Martinez with 15.3%

Best Football Play

The nominees were:

Walk-On Lane McCallum kicking the game winning FG as time expires vs Northwestern
Maurice Washington long TD run vs Colorado
Drive in the tOSU game lining up in the I-formation with Dedrick at fullback and Wan’Dale at I-back while running option
Wan’Dale’s first touchdown vs Illinois

Darrion Daniels almost touchdown

The Winner is:

First Place is Walk-On Lane McCallum’s walk-off field goal game winner versus Northwestern with 50.8% of the vote!

Second place goes to the I-formation drive against Ohio State with Dedrick Mills at fullback and Wan’Dale Robinson at I-back while running option with 20.3%
Third place is Darrion Daniels almost touchdown with 11.9%

Best Football Win

South Alabama
Northern Illinois

The vote breakdown:

The Winner is:

First place goes to the Illinois win with 39.1% of the vote!

Second place goes to the Maryland win which garnered 31.3%
Third place goes to the win over Northwestern which gathered 29.7%
