Happy Cinco de Mayo!

Did you know that Cinco de Mayo is not Mexican independence day as many people in the United States believe? It is actually the celebration of the Mexican Army’s win over the French in the battle of Puebla. It is also considered a minor holiday in Mexico, but in the United States it has been a great celebration of Mexican heritage and traditions.

I have never been to an authentic Cinco de Mayo celebration, but hope that I will someday. I think it would be a lot of fun.

Tonight I will be celebrating with guacamole and margaritas.

While I probably should continue to take advantage of the opportunity to have margaritas to go, tonight I will be attempting making my own from a recipe that I found online. I really hope they taste good. Do any of you have some good margarita recipes?

I’d take good guacamole recipes too. I normally just use some Watkins seasoning to make mine, but I’m up for trying something a little more challenging.
