The powers that be seem to be nearing on many made up yet pretty decent deadlines on when major sports are coming back. We have already seen the emergence of golf, MMA, & soccer among other minor sports popping back up on the world scene. From my understanding the beginning of June we should see some announcements on more sports starting to open up their windows.

Right now, we are going off a bit of speculation over what will happen if sports do or do not open in this country. Pro and amateur sports have taken a hit and when they open back up could determine if many of them will survive in their current form at all. There is a lot of money and jobs at stake here and these beasts need to be fed. As they say, the bigger you are the harder you fall.

As you can imagine, we have been discussing the possibility of college football coming back this fall ad nauseam. Many athletic departments are still trying to wrap their head around what would and would not happen if the upcoming season is postponed, altered, or straight up cancelled. One way or another, some schools are most likely going to take a major hit. Probably one that many will not be able to recover from.

So, at some point I think that we will see college football this year. I am not quite sure how but I also can’t imagine they would not put something together. The economics of not having it are probably too devastating for the universities and local economies to handle.

Will Nebraska be fine? I am sure they will. 1 Memorial has always seemed to do well financially regardless of the situation and I do not believe this will be any different. No matter what happens the athletic department should be in shape to take a hit. However, what will that hit do to the longevity of the department? That is something that still needs to be figured out. It won’t just be Nebraska. It will be all major universities across the country.

So, until then I would recommend reading today's flakes. I put some humdingers in it for you all.

Also, it’s “Underdog Week” here at SB Nation so don’t go and get your panties in a bunch of we write some articles you disagree with or think we are just rustling up some dirt. It’s all part of a larger narrative.

Oh yeah, read an article before you comment. Not making you but you might be better off because of it.
