What’s that cat doing?

Wizarding World, the official Harry Potter website, now has actors reading aloud chapters of the first book, Harry Potter and The Sorcer’s Stone.

Last week Daniel Radcliffe, the actor who played Harry Potter in the movies, read the first chapter “The Boy Who Lived”. There was also artwork that fans had sent in included while he read. This week Noma Dumezweni, the actress who played Hermione Granger on the Broadway production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, read the second chapter, “The Vanishing Glass”.

After I found out about this, I had to go and listen to the first chapter. I thought I could get my oldest son to listen with me, as I am anxious to get him into Harry Potter. But he wasn’t interested. He’s 6, he might not be ready yet, or it could be the lack of pictures and that we didn’t have the book in front of us, but I’ll have to try again with him when he’s older.

Anyway I listened to it by myself. As I was listening I started to wonder why Professor McGonagall, as a cat, showed up at Privet Drive waiting for Dumbledore? She is there all day, but Dumbledore doesn’t arrive until it’s dark. When he does she asks him if the rumors are true about the Potters. If she didn’t know that they were true why would she be waiting at the Dursley’s for him? It’s not like that was a place he’d been hanging out at regularly.

Does the reason matter? Probably not, but I just thought I’d see if anyone had an answer for me.

You should definitely go listen to the chapters at https://www.wizardingworld.com/ . I plan on listening to “The Vanishing Glass” later today.
