Corn Nation Movie Night: The Films Of Kevin Smith

New, 8 comments

The Master of the Viewaskewniverse

This week we are going in a little different direction with our Friday night movie. I have picked one of America’s most beloved directors to take center stage. He has brought joy to million of moviegoers over the years and just keeps pumping out the classics.

Yes, I am talking about Silent Bob himself, Kevin Smith.

Kevin’s career as a filmmaker goes back to his 1994 when his first film and cult classic “Clerks” came onto the scene. I’ve been a huge fan of his since then and am looking forward to this Friday’s film. Whatever you folks choose.

Now, because of multi distribution rights, this is going to be a little hit or miss on streaming services. Some of the services also have a “movie rental fee” to watch the films such as what Amazon Prime has. I have indicated in the poll where you can see the film and if there could be a fee attached. That fee is even if you already subscribe.

All of the films below are online with the exception of one. I will go into that in a bit. Finally, I only picked a handful of his films to watch. So, if I didn’t pick one that you wanted to see then hit me up in the comments section.

Jay and Silent Bob Reboot

Jay and Silent Bob Reboot is the newest film in the View Askewniverse. It pays homage to the original which came out my sophomore year of college...Oh man.

Chasing Amy

One of the best of Kevin Smith’s career. It’s a classic about comics and love.

Zach and Miri Make a Porno

This is one of Kevin’s movies that is better than what people give it credit for. It’s dirty, it’s funny, it’s a love story.

Yoga Hosers

I have not seen this one yet but Kevin cast Johnny Depp’s daughter next to his own as the title characters. Also, Hitler is involved.

Clerks

The first and quite possibly the best of his films. This is the definitive 90’s movie. A must watch for anyone.

Mallrats

The second film in his lineup that is probably becoming more historical than anything as malls are going the way of the Dodo. It beat the Marvel movies with the whole Stan Lee cameo thing. It’s where I learned to never accept a chocolate pretzel from someone.

Dogma

This movie is still owned by the Weinstens and they are not putting any of their films up on a streaming service. No idea what’s going on there but it is out of my control. If you pick this, I hope you have a copy of it in your home. (I do) Also, you get to see God and she’s pretty cool.

Jay and Silent Bob

SNOOGINS! I ditched on hanging out with a girl at a kegger in college to go see this on opening night. I have no regrets. Watch if you enjoy Morris Day and the Time!
