Is Quidditch the best sport that we can never really watch?
Yes, I do believe it is.
In case you are unaware, Quidditch is the sport that is played in the wizarding world of Harry Potter.
It’s played on broomsticks, for that reason alone it’s awesome.
Teams consist of seven players each. Each end of the field has three hoops, 30 feet, 40 feet, and 50 feet tall.
There are three balls. One is the quaffle, which the chasers hit down the field and try to hit into the hoops to score points.
Another is the bludger, which is made of iron. There are two of them in the game and they are enchanted to fly on their own and knock players off of their brooms. Players called Beaters hit them at the other team.
The final ball is the most important one, the golden snitch. It is the smallest one, and zips around the field trying not to be seen or caught by the Seekers. Once the golden snitch is caught that seeker’s team wins 150 points and the game is over.
The only player that I haven’t mentioned is the Keeper. The Keeper protects the hoops, much like a goalie would in soccer or hockey.
I would love to actually play or maybe just watch a real Quidditch match.
There is “Muggle Quidditch”:
But I don’t think it compares to flying on brooms.
So I guess until I learn to fly a broom and enchant the bludgers and golden snitch, I’ll have to stick to the real sports.
