Dachon Burke Jr. already announced earlier this month he would be leaving the team to focus on his studies and pursue a graduate transfer. With that in mind, he formally entered the transfer portal a week ago on March 21st. It didn’t take him long to settle on a new destination as multiple reports were confirmed by the Lincoln Journal Star Burke is headed to the South Alabama Jaguars.
Burke was one of just two playovers still on the roster from Head Coach Tim Miles tenure. The other being Thorir Thorbjarnarson, but unlike Thor, Burke did not play last season due to sitting out as a transfer player. Burke originally came to Nebraska from Robert Morris, where he excelled for two seasons before transferring to UNL.
In his one season with the Nebraska Cornhuskers, Burke started 27 of 29 games. He averaged 12.2 points per game, good for second in scoring on the team. His 1.4 steals per game was also good for second in the Big Ten.
He was suspended from the team for the final regular season game at the Minnesota Golden Gophers, and did not travel with the team to Indianapolis for their final game against the Indiana Hoosiers.
As for the 6’ 4”, 180-pound guard’s new school, South Alabama went 20-11 this season overall. The Jaguars won their final eight games, and were entering the Sun Belt Conference Tournament as the No. 2 seed prior to its cancellation.
