Hello there.
I am here to take over Tuesday flakes.
While I will of course include sports in these articles, I wanted to share one of my other interests with you.
I LOVE Harry Potter. I know some of you probably want to stop reading right now. Or at least are judging me.
I understand the want to do that, I do. I too once resisted the amazing world of Harry Potter. When the Harry Potter books first came out in 1997, they were not on my radar. They may have been a bit above my reading level and I had no interest in books about Wizards.
By the time the first movie came out in 2001, I was way “too cool” to give those nerdy wizard books and movies a try. For much of my adult life, I avoided most things Harry Potter without fail.
In 2018, I was looking for a new read aloud for my class. One of my coworkers had always told me how much she and her students loved when she read Harry Potter. I had also had several students ask me to read it. So, I gave in.
I wasn’t expecting much, but from the moment I started reading it, I was hooked. Over the next few months I finished the series and I have been jazzed about all things Harry Potter ever since.
I have read it to my class in the two years since and most of my students beg me to read more in the series. One of the most fun parts about doing Harry Potter as a read aloud is that I use a terrible British accent throughout the whole thing and my students love it.
So Muggles, (that’s Harry Potter speak for non-magical people)* I have decided to insert a little bit of Harry Potter into your lives each Tuesday.
You. Are. Welcome.
*I am not trying to offend those of you that are wise to the ways of Harry Potter, just teach those who may not know.
