Frosted Flakes: Old Timey Nebrasketball, Cannabis Rising, Spring Football Gets Closer

newsy stuff!

Not really anything to do with the article.... but the spring game isn’t too far away!
Jon Johnston

Some dude on twitter yesterday posted beautiful footage of the past.

The film is in surprisingly good shape and shows a glimpse at an era of basketball that is as you’d expect, quite different from what we watch now. The bucket free throws are a hoot, and as the tweet states, some of the shots are like, “WHAT THE HELL”. Honestly, this is what it looked like when I tried playing basketball in my young days. I just ran around and sometimes threw the ball wildly at the basket. Sometimes I shot from the chest. And although I didn’t see it, sometimes I’d kick a guy’s ankles together as he ran by me. (This is a good way to start a fight in UNL intramurals, btw.)

Note that news article about Northwestern and spring football!

It’s not far away!

Then There’s This

Cannabis use has risen sharply among U.S. adults age 65 and older, study finds | MinnPost

The proportion of adults aged 65 and older who said they had used cannabis in the previous year increased from 2.4 percent in 2015 to 4.2 percent in 2018 — a jump of 75 percent, the study found.

That’s also up a whopping 950 percent from the 0.4 percent of older adults who reported in 2006 that they had used cannabis during the previous 12 months.

This shouldn’t shock anyone. It’s not like these people didn’t toke part of their life through the 60s, 70s. All that crap about your parents/grandparents and how they were never doing “bad” things, the “good old days” - it’s 90% bullshit.

Why are the laws changing? Because the old people demand it. Maybe it’ll be the one good thing the flower children do for the country.

You’re An Ass

Is that redundant because this is a media guy? You can tell me in the comments.

The replies to this tweet are amazing, but I’d just point out that this guy.... is an ass. Not a fun ass. Not a joyful ass. He’s the type of ass who posts this shit who knows exactly what’s he’s doing, which is sensationalizing a subject that’s already scaring the hell out of common people all over the world.
