2020 Nebraska Husker Baseball Season Kickoff Thread Against Baylor

Huskers travel to Baylor for start of season

Baseball Background Jon Johnston

The 2020 Nebraska Baseball season starts tonight! The Huskers return to Waco, Texas to start the Will Bolt era of Husker baseball. Nebraska makes the trip to Waco for the second straight year after the Huskers home series against Baylor was moved last year due to inclement weather.

Nebraska will start senior transfer Gareth Stroh. The Bears will counter with Jimmy Winston. Stroh had to sit out a year after transferring from Purdue. He will be expected to not overpower hitters but he will be crafty. He will remind Husker fans of Jake Meyers on the mound. He will not be afraid to throw inside and to throw his offspeed pitches for strikes.

Winston is in the rotation after starting 11 games last season. He threw well against the Huskers in a pair of games. Expect Winston to throw hard but not strike out many batters. He does not have a great put away pitch as he struck out only 45 batters in 73.1 innings
