Sports Illustrated announced their SI99 Basketball Prospect rankings on Wednesday. Giving us their top 99 players in the 2021 recruiting class. For the first time since I can think of, two of Nebraska’s recruits landed in the top 40.

Coming in at #40 is center Wilhelm Briedenbach out of Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, California. He committed to Nebraska on November 11th of this year. The 6’9” center is a four star prospect who is currently ranked by ESPN as the #53 best recruit in the country for 2021 and 247 has him ranked at #92. During his junior year in high school he averaged 11.9 points and 7 rebounds per game.

Ahead of Wilhelm is #29 Bryce McGowan. Nebraska picked up the commitment of Bryce just two days after getting Wilhelm on November 11th. The 6’6” guard is 5 star recruit that hails from Greenville, South Carolina. He is the #1 recruit out of South Carolina, #3 shooting guard in the country, and #26th player overall according to 247. Bryce averaged 25.3 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 3.1 assists per game for the Hurricanes his junior year.

Also of note is Millard North star Hunter Sallis. Hunter is a five star recruit who made the #14 spot in the rankings and has yet to chose a school. Nebraska offered him early but he has since moved on to more blue blood programs such as Kentucky, North Carolina, & Gonzaga on his list.
