Ru'Quan Buckley has officially become a Husker, signing his LOI this morning. The 6’6 280 lb. Buckley plays his prep ball at Godwin Heights High School in Wyoming, a suburb of Grand Rapids. He plays both offensive tackle and defensive end for the Wolverines.
The coaching staff had been recruiting Ru’Quan for a while. He received his offer from the Huskers in May 2019 and they had been recruiting him ever since. He visited Lincoln for Junior Day in January and named us his leader at the time. However, he never got to visit again due to the pandemic & other schools got involved in his recruitment.
Michigan State, Cincinnati, Florida State, and Minnesota were Ru’Quan’s other finalists. He was being courted pretty heavily by nearby Michigan State, who told him he could play either offense or defense, and by Florida State, who wanted him at offensive tackle. However, Coach Tuioti’s relationship with him won out in the end, and Ru’Quan committed to the Good Guys.
Akelo's Analysis:
Buckley has elite size for the 3-4 end position, and he plays with brute strength. Under the tutelage of Coaches Tuioti and Duval, I can see him becoming a trench monster by his RS SO year.
Welcome to Nebraska, Ru'Quan! GBR!!!
