It’s not good. It’s not terrible either.

Minnesota started this game down 33 players. Two starters were missing from the offensive line and one from the defensive line. The Gophers were down to four defensive tackles and two tight ends.

Minnesota 7 - 0

The Gopher possession started at the Nebraska 35. Luke McCaffrey came in at quarterback after Adrian Martinez left the field due to injury. McCaffrey threw two passes, one incomplete, and one complete to Minnesota as the Nebraska receiver failed to catch the pass directly in his hands and it bounced into the hands of Tyler Nubin. Tyler Nubin is not a Nebraska player.

Nebraska’s defense forced a 4th and 1. Mo Ibrahim scored on a direct snap run for 26 yards.

Nebraska got the ball back, starting at the 25. They moved down the field easily as if the start of the second quarter triggered some type of adrenaline release. Martinez hit Wyatt Liewer for 8 yards, then Wan’Dale Robinson ripped off a 47-yard run to the Minnesota 20.

Minnesota forced a third and one, which Martinez picked up on a nice run with a lead block by Mills. Martinez then hit Austin Allen for his first career touchdown reception.
