We all knew that Nebraska would be starting the season looking up from the bottom of the Big Ten after last years run and now we have our first inkling of where they will be.
The KenPom rankings came out on Wednesday. The site is run by analyst Ken Pomeroy and updates as the season moves along. Ken has Nebraska ranked 118th out of 357 Division I teams. They are the lowest ranked Big Ten team on the list.
Big Ten teams & their rankings:
#7 - Wisconsin
#10 - Ohio State
#12 - Iowa
#15 - Michigan State
#17 - Michigan
#18 - Illinois
#25 - Purdue
#26 - Indiana
#27 - Rutgers
#35 - Minnesota
#51 - Maryland
#64 - Penn State
#70 - Northwestern
#118 - Nebraska
The Big Ten has 7 teams in the top 25 and 9 in the top 30. This gives you an idea of how strong this conference is going to be going into the season. I would expect some movement once the season moves along but I can’t imagine many of these teams taking a major drop.
Team such as Illinois and Iowa are looked upon as challenging for the conference title so there very well could be some interesting upward movement from the conference depending upon how the season goes. Hopefully the Huskers with some new starters will be able to pull themselves out of the basement and into stronger territory.
