You smell that? No, not the smoke from the inevitable burning of cities across the country following today’s election (regardless of result).
Do you smell the ripeness of the Big Ten? It’s there to be plucked by Nebraska. These Huskers, for all their flaws, have a team that can compete with everyone in the Big Ten West. Hell, on a good day, they might be able to compete with a lot of the East too. No one ever thought this season wouldn’t be weird, and right now, that prediction is holding up.
But it also might be a sneaky changing of the guard, something we’ve long predicted but never gotten. This all feels a bit cocky and premature, I’m sure, especially since we lost by five touchdowns in the only game Nebraska has played this season. But, if you’ve watched the rest of the conference at all this season, and if you’ve seen Barry Alvarez trying to campaign on GameDay for a clear (and self-imposed) avenue toward a divisional crown, you can see how vulnerable the rest of the West is.
Now it’s time for Nebraska to do its part and win.
But before that, it’s time for you to do your part and listen to the Big Red Cobcast. All you have to do is click the little play button below.
