Week 5 Cobs: Horns Down, Air Raid Grounded and Stadium Ejections

If you thought last week was crazy, wait until you see what we have for this week.

This won’t be a cob nomination but man...what a tough way to lose.

Texas

After escaping Lubbock with an overtime win last week, we found out that the Longhorns was no match for the Horned Frogs. This was a sloppy game with a combined 26 penalties on both sides but but in the end, this is what cost Texas the game.

Oklahoma

Spencer Rattler was rattled again with another pick on a potential game-tying drive. Oklahoma hasn’t lost in Ames in 60 years when they came to town on Saturday night. They also hadn’t lost to Iowa State and Kansas State in the same year since 1931! Are the Sooners coming back down to Earth before their home-and-home series with Nebraska?

Mississippi State

The Bulldogs could not stop finding ways to lose this game. After turning it over on downs in the red zone on consecutive possessions, the Air Raid offense was going to get one more crack at tying the game. That was until Mississippi State muffed the punt return and sealed their fate and Arkansas snapped their 20 game (!) conference losing streak.

Central Florida

Imagine proclaiming yourself “The Best Team in Florida” only to lose to Tulsa just two weeks later. Embarrassing. The Golden Knights were not so golden against the Golden Hurricane. Tulsa committed 15 penalties in the game with 11(!) of them being false starts.

Kentucky Running Back Asim Rose

Getting caught celebrating early will always get you a cob. Especially when you fumble it away two plays later.

SMU Student Section

I’m ok with fans being in the stands during the games but in this situation, they deserve to get kicked out. Complete lunacy.

SEC Refs

No words...

Another great selection of cobs for Week 5 of College Football but unfortunately you can only pick one.
