2020 really has a way of with toying with our emotions.
Just as we get a taste of Husker football again, it’s taken from us.
It sucks. We hate it. But we can’t let it ruin our weekend.
These aren’t really reasons, but here are five ways that Husker fans can be victorious this weekend.
#1 PREP FOR NEXT WEEK’S GAME
Next week Nebraska is set to take on Northwestern. Husker fans can do a little scouting by watching the Wildcats play Iowa on Saturday.
Not only do we get a sneak peek about what we are up against next week, we can cheer against Iowa. I consider that a win-win.
Will it feel the same? No, but you can still watch a 2:30 game. You can tell yourself you’re dong it for the Huskers. And you may just get to watch Iowa lose.
#2 ENJOY THE GREAT OUTDOORS
After the cold snap that we’ve had the last couple of weeks, it looks like Saturday is going to be a nice day to be outside. Get your self outside and enjoy whatever nice weather we have left for the year.
Go for a hike.
Rake some leaves. (I know how to have a good time.)
Put up Christmas lights. I know, it is only Halloween on Saturday, but why not spread the Christmas cheer early. Also, if you do it early then you don’t risk having to go outside in the freezing cold to put them up later.
Get yourself some fresh air.
#3 AVOID COMPLAINING ONLINE
We all know that it is really disappointing that the Husker game was cancelled. Everyone has a right to feel their feelings. But we all need to remember the game was cancelled because Wisconsin has a growing number of COVID cases and it was deemed that it was not safe to play.
What would have happened if they continued with the game and then some of our players got sick? I think that situation would have been worse than what we are facing now.
Let’s look at the positive.
#4 CELEBRATE HALLOWEEN
Don’t forget Saturday is a holiday!
Watch scary movies, eat spooky themed foods, take those kids trick or treating a little earlier than you planned, dress up and enjoy the night, or set up something fun for trick or treaters.
Or sit at home and eat a bunch of pumpkin Reese’s just because you can.
#5 DO SOMETHING RELAXING
Sometimes watching Husker football is the opposite of relaxing. Take some time with this unexpected by week to just relax.
Take a nap.
Read a book. Jon’s book would be a good choice if you don’t have one you’re already reading.
Take a drive.
While you can’t watch a our beloved Huskers play this weekend, you can still win the weekend. Take some time to do something you enjoy and be ready for next weekend.
