Ohio State Leads Nebraska 24-14 At Half

Not bad, but not great either.

Big Ten Football started off the right way with Nebraska taking the first offensive series down the field and scoring with great efficiency.

Nebraska 7-0

Adrian Martinez scored. Luke McCaffrey had a 47-yard carry. It was beautiful.

Scoring Drive: F4 plays, 75 yards, 1:51.

Ohio State 7-7

Ohio State responded with a drive of their own to tie the game. It was not nearly as efficient. Master Teague scored on a one yard run. The drive stayed alive when Ohio State picked up a fourth and five around the Nebraska 30-yard line.

Scoring Drive: 11 plays, 75 yards, 5:05

Ohio State 14-7

Nebraska forced to punt after picking up good yardage on first down, but called for a false start that put our beloved Huskers behind the chains. Nebraska hit a good 47-yard punt, but Ohio State’s offense made short work of the field as Justin Fields hit Garrett Nelson for a 42-yard TD reception.

Nebraska’s pass defense looks troublesome. Sometimes they are within five yards of the receivers.

Scoring Drive: 6 plays, 76 yards, 2:18

Nebraska 14-14

After trading possession as our beloved Huskers force Ohio State to punt, Nebraska went on a solid, long drive. Dedrick Mills punctuated the drive with a three yard touchdown run up the middle. Nebraska looked crisp, including picking up a first down on third and three while properly executing a trap block. It was beautiful.

Scoring Drive: 11 plays, 78 yards, 5:17

Ohio State 17-14

Ohio State moved themselves down the field with the run, mostly. The Buckeyes went for it on fourth down, but committed an illegal formation penalty and were forced to hit a field goal.

So far, so good, Nebraska.

Not sure why the Buckeyes are running so much when our beloved Huskers can’t defend the pass. Ohio State has 70 yards rushing on 21 attempts for a 3.3 per yard average.

Another key - Scott Frost appears to be having fun. Last year he looked like he wanted to die.

Scoring Drive: 11 plays, 71 yards, 5:07

Ohio State 24-14

Nebraska had a terrible drive, losing yardage. The punt was good, 51 yards, but our beloved Huskers were called for a hands to the face penalty when Marquel Dismuke was being held by a Buckeye and fought back by grabbing the facemask. No holding call on those bastards, though.

The Buckeyes moved somewhat easily compared to earlier in the game. Master Teague finished the drive off with an easy six yard run up the middle.

Scoring Drive: 5 plays, 46 yards, 1:15

Overall not a bad half, but slid downwards towards the end of the second quarter.
