Before we get into the cob nominations, let’s just sit back in amazement at these two incredible bounces leading to completely different circumstances.

North Carolina
Spotting a football team 24 points (even Florida State) is never a good thing. The Tarheels were so close to pulling it off (and me giving a cob to Florida State instead). However, a couple of bad drops near the end of the game sealed their fate. They’re still get a cob nomination because Florida State is horrible this season.

Ole Miss
In the Corn Nation slack chat, our Dear Leader mentioned that SEC teams combined for 20(!) interceptions last week. Ole Miss accounted for six of them and two of them were pick sixes! I’m not even sure how that’s possible but it definitely contributed to their 33-21 loss against Arkansas.

Tennessee
Kentucky wins in Neyland for the first time since 1984. Kentucky started off the game with back-to-back pick sixes and the Wildcats never looked back. Kentucky gets their first win in Neyland since 1984 in a 34-7 blowout. So much for Tennessee being back.

Dan Mullen
Florida head football coach Dan Mullen made himself look really silly this week.

Georgia State Linebacker Jordan Strachan
After that unsportsmanlike play at the end of Georgia State-Arkansas State, I don’t think the Arkansas State quarterback will be delaying his end-of-game kneels anymore.

Houston Wide Receiver Bryson Smith
They was plenty of crazy stuff happening in the BYU-Houston game but this takes the cake. Thankfully it didn’t matter much as Houston went on a 99-yard drive for a TD despite this cob from the returner.

Central Florida Quarterback Quadry Jones
I don’t care if you’re the third-string QB. You can’t be going after your own kicker like that for missing a field goal.

Another great catch! If there weren’t so many cob nominations this week, I would have also cobbed Auburn for their first loss to South Carolina since 1933.
