Nebrasketball: The Huskers Take On Italy

Well, not the entire country. But you get where this is going.

The University has sent Nebrasketball across the Atlantic for a little summer trip before school starts this fall. Fred Hoiberg and the Nebraska basketball squad are in Italy to see the sights, eat the food, and play some basketball against some of Europe’s finest.

They flew out Saturday and saw the sights on Sunday. Their schedule is as follows:

Monday, August 5th - Stella Azzurra Academy at 11:30 a.m. CST

Wednesday, August 6th - Silute BC from Lithuania at 1:00 p.m. CST

Thursday, August 7th - Silute BC again at 11:00 a.m. CST

Monday, August 12th - Italian Select 12:00 p.m. CST

Originally, there was talk of having a live stream online of the games but that has sense evaporated. We will have to rely upon twitter updates from the media and fans who are over there with the team.

In between they will be sight seeing and taking in as much of the culture as the coaches can throw at them. Some of the attractions will be the Leaning Tower of Pisa, The Roman Colosseum, and the Ferrari Museum. I imagine the last one of those will most likely be high on the players lists to see so expect and uptick in their social media.

This will be the first time this team will have played anyone other than themselves. There will be hiccups. There will be rust. But, we should have a better idea of what this squad will be like once they tip-off against Doane in November.

They will return to the United State on August 13th.
