Power Back Marvin Scott III is N!

Florida Man picks Huskers over Bama, Virginia Tech

#All’N

It was a good day for a Florida Man to become a Nebraska Man!

Marvin Scott III, 5-9 203lb three star running back from Port Orange, Florida has committed to the Nebraska Cornhuskers! Florida State, Louisville, Michigan, and Alabama among others were campaigning for his services. He was in Nebraska for his official visit during the Big Red Barbecue in June. That event went very well by all accounts. He also took an unofficial visit to Florida State, along with an official to Georgia Tech. The very polished and effective official visit to Lincoln set the standard that no one else could match.

Remember this run by Ameer Abdullah?

Or this run by Tommie Frazier?

Well, prepare for a bunch of that from Marvin Scott III. He is my favorite kind of runner. When presented with a potential tackler, he keeps his pads pointed at the end zone, drops his shoulders, and just lays the poor fool out. His legs never stop driving until he’s on the ground or in the end zone. His yards after contact (YAC) are through the roof. But coupled with this, he has a great burst. As soon as the traffic clears, he finds the crease and it’s off to the races. There is no juking and jiving, no bouncing outside, just hard-nosed north-south running right through defenders’ flailing arms. This is the perfect complement to a hybrid running back/wide receiver like Maurice Washington or new commit Sevion Morrison.

This puts the 2020 recruiting class in double digits! Marvin’s commitment places the 2020 class at 47th, 10th in the B1G. While not impressive currently, the class is picking up steam. This is also going to be a relatively small class, so it won’t necessarily end up rated as high as others. Welcome to the Husker family, Marvin! GBR!
