It’s the first real poll of the 2019 college football season!
The USA Today Coaches Poll has been released, which means the season is closer by the moment.
Here’s the full article, including the voters and the “Also Receiving Votes” group. Here’s a listing of the Poll:
- Clemson
- Alabama
- Georgia
- Oklahoma
- Ohio St
- LSU
- Florida
- Michigan
- Notre Dame
- Texas
- Texas A&M
- Washington
- Oregon
- Penn St
- Utah
- Auburn
- Wisconsin
- UCF - UCF and Wisconsin are actually tied at 17, but the editor wouldn’t let me do that.
- Iowa
- Mich St
- Wash St
- Syracuse
- Stanford
- Iowa St
- Northwestern
Where is Nebraska? Kind of, sort of ranked at #26 or first in the “Others Receiving Votes” category. That’s fine with me. I’d rather we showed some sort of progress on the field before we start worrying about rankings.
Our beloved Huskers are ranked behind Wisconsin, Iowa, and Northwestern in the Big Ten West yet favored by many to win it.
I bet it has to annoy some Meechigan men that Ohio State is still ranked ahead of them despite Ryan Day just starting in his new job.
This is also a great time to remind you that we have our own poll this year. The Sign Up link is in the linked article.... DO IT DO IT DO IT!
You should sign up because it can be fun AND because you would get to partake in the struggle that is ranking 20-25 and discover that there’s a whole lot of teams you can put in that space and still be credible.
The Top Ten in this poll are the usual suspects. Something new - Clemson is ranked preseason #1 for the first time in their school history. ‘Bama is not ranked #1 for the first time since.... oh, 1635 it seems like.
After the the Top Ten you get into this murky guessing range of goo.
Seriously, sign up for Fan Pulse, please, it’s a good exercise in your college football fandom.
