Nebraska Pitcher Matt Waldron Selected By Cleveland Indians

Waldron gets his shot in the pros!

Jon Johnston

Nebraska senior pitcher Matt Waldron was the first Husker player taken in the 2019 MLB draft. He went in the 18th round as the 550th player taken. He was drafted by the Cleveland Indians.

Waldron was Nebraska’s best pitcher this season in terms of ERA. He finished the season with a 3.05 ERA, striking out 93 batters, and giving up only 7 free bases over 100 13 innings of works.

He was a joy to watch, especially in his last game against Oklahoma State, where he went 7.2 innings and set a career high with 11 strike outs.

We here at Corn Nation are sad to see Mr. Waldron go, but wish him the best in his pro career.

GOOD LUCK MATT!
