It is fireworks season. You know what that means, right?

A deluge of Facebook posts and texts from neighbors looking for their dog after it ran away because of the noise.

A few years ago, our dog ended up at the neighbor’s house and we got a call at 3:30 a.m. to retrieve her. Since then, we’ve put her inside whenever the kids get out their fireworks. I’m glad we live out on the ranch right now. The only fireworks that bother her are the ones we set off. If we lived in town, she would be a wreck over the next two weeks.

Last night we were watching Ranchhand 3’s baseball game and there were fireworks going off all around town. One dog at a house next to the ballpark was very unhappy and cowered in the yard whimpering.

Hopefully you and your pets make it through the big-bang-boom season unscathed.
